MESHLAB BETA MOVIE

Carrara rigs and weight map also transfer well to iClone so that is another plus. Even Photoshop style layer-based 3D paint!Ĭarrara import exporting OBJs is also way more stable than DS. But if ZBrush is not your style, Carrara has easy to learn, flexible vertex/edge/polygonal modeling features that is friendly to most hobby modelers looking to make props and buildings. ZBrush 4.7 has SketchUp style modeling now so I have my complete modeling/UV/texture suite now. Saves a lot of time and headache in the long run. By proper, I mean, updated and standardized enough. My conclusion is, if one plans to make a lot of buildings/ prop assets, the modeling app must have its own "proper" UV and material group assigning utilities. There is only so much 3DXchange can do, short of having direct applink to everyone in the market.
MESHLAB BETA UPGRADE
I love making buildings in SketchUp, so fast and intuitive, but the reknown export UV/material/backface issues mean either I upgrade to pro version or find other avenues.ģDXchange, even v4, has tried to address this with backface management and basic UV assignment. OBJ export from Lightwave/ Max/ Sketchup etc etc will read differently each other, depending on how updated the app's native OBJ convertor. The fact that Daz Studio has an ancient OBJ convertor does not help. OBJ export with oddball material definition, or with no UV map, or "oddball" UV coordinate (like those from Sketchup 3rd party plugins and possibly open source softwares like Meshlab), will likely mess up the OBJ's material file during export anyway. Most of the time material/UV weirdness has less to do with the destination app but more to do with the mesh exporting app. I am sure you can use this software to your advantage fixing the meshes to your advantage. Part Building / Mesh Deleted with a single click : Part Building / Mesh Selected with rubber band : When I import the resultant OBJ file to DAZ, I could manage to get the residual object but without material. So I used MESHLAB to delete the back portion of the building. Recently, I was thinking of keeping only the facades of the buildings along the street rather than the whole buildings for an elaborate car chase scene. So I prefer doing all my characters and location designs before I start animating.) ( I change hats from screenplay writer to musician to animator. I typically do Game style Set /Location ( open world ) development before I start animating.

Has anybody worked with MESHLAB ( ) and tried to bring in the resultant OBJ file into DAZ or ICLONE ?
